Phase One — Initial Consultation
No commitment
Every project begins with a conversation. During our consultation, we take the time to learn about your goals, your home, and what you hope to achieve. We provide an honest discussion about project scope, investment expectations, and whether MBA Builders is the right fit for your needs.
Phase Two — Site visit and scope
Weeks 2 to 4
We come to you. We look at the space, ask the right questions, and translate your vision into a clear, buildable scope of work and proposal. No guessing.

Some of our clients come to us with plans already in hand. We step in as the builder, work closely with your design team, and prepare a detailed budget and schedule based on their work. The pre-construction pricing does not apply on this route.

Phase Three — Pre-construction planning
Weeks 4 to 10 · Starting at $10,000
Thoughtful preparation is the foundation of a successful project. During pre-construction, we finalize selections, specifications, scheduling, budgeting, and construction details before work begins. This detailed planning process allows us to minimize surprises, maintain budget accuracy, and create a smoother construction experience from start to finish.
Phase Four — Demolition and rough work
Weeks 10 to 13
Because every decision was made in Phase Three, demo day starts with confidence. This is also when your dedicated project manager takes the lead, overseeing day-to-day construction, coordinating trades, maintaining communication, and keeping the project moving according to plan. Structural, electrical, and plumbing work is completed and inspected before anything gets closed up.
Phase Five — Construction & project management
Weeks 13 to 20 (varies by scope)
With the foundation of the project in place, construction continues as finishes, fixtures, and details come together. Regular communication, quality control, and careful scheduling help ensure the finished space reflects the plans and decisions made during pre-construction.
Phase Six — Final walkthrough
We review every detail together and address every punch list item before handing over the keys.

Ongoing
Our commitment does not end when construction is complete. We stand behind our work with a one-year warranty and remain available when questions come up after a project is finished. Many of our clients return for future projects or stay in touch for years, and we’re always happy to be a resource when they need guidance, support, or help with the home we’ve built together. Every project is different depending on scope and complexity. Our focus is on creating realistic timelines through detailed planning and consistent communication so clients feel informed throughout the process.

We are based in Wakefield and serve Greater Boston and Middlesex County. Our most active markets include Lexington, Bedford, Concord, Winchester, Arlington, Reading, Lynnfield, Andover, North Andover, Manchester-by-the-Sea and more. Do you do renovations or only custom home building?
Both. We build custom homes in Massachusetts and we do full renovations, including kitchen renovations, bathroom remodels, whole-home renovations, and ADU builds. The same process applies to every project type. We also have a special projects division for focused improvements that do not need a full renovation.
